Friday Night Kreb Race - Circuit

Friday October the 13th. A beautiful day and evening -- finally the high humidity and heat mover out for a release. Looking good for one more Kreb Cycle Friday Night race.

Today: Kids race first, then regular circuit 20 laps to go.

A race -- possibly the fastest (for Py so far) -- plus it happened to be that Py got just off the start into a 4-rider break away, no one of us was first seriously thinking that this could stick for a while, but they (George, Jake (Kissena) [was it you?] and one more Py does not know) were keeping a good pace in a constant good team efford (about as good as it can be in a team time trial). But they knew, they would have 20 full laps to go...... a long way.
However, as three more GABs were in the main field (and two in this break, George, Py) they tried to control the field behind and pace them a bit down.
Py heard (he would love to get the GPS data for a rider in the main field, to calculate it) they had up to 20 seconds on them. With 12 laps top go they were still ahead, but a 2nd break formed and closed up.

This was good and bad the same time -- good, more time to recover, but the bunch (not sure how many they have been then) -- got kind of disorganized as several of the others seamed just to sneak on and badly disrupted and efficient rotation. This chaos bunch in front was now a big break, moving still fast, but wasting affords and less smooth. Py thinks also a few dropped back again. However, he had the feeling this needed more work than before for, at least it felt like.

And with 5 laps to go -- the rest of the field caught up. As Py got it, Jeff got sick of the bunch behind pacing slow and decided to pull in a long big move on his own the whole field in one single file pacing back up to the break.

At that point Py some how lost all motivation and just was sitting in to the end of the race.

The whole thing was fast -- see here for lap data and averages (25.2mph over all):

Early Birds South - racing Dune road...

Sunday, not sure what to expect and how it would work out after all that last days racing and riding. But seamed the recovery, good food and some nap time on Saturday did the trick :-)
Even not really awake from the very beginning, Py felt better and found some energy reserves to the end of the ride to play and have fun. Also on Dune road Py had a good time flying fast...

Here a few snap shots shortly after leaving from the Seven-Eleven stop.

Good fast finish, easy ride home of usual route w Owen today.

Post ride notes:
Did you even noticed, I missed to format the initial letter to this post right. (fixed)
Do not know how I did this today -- after putting in (no posted, missed to write about it), so I do it now: a 22:08 3.5 mile run race on Tuesday w/o any good (>24h) recovery from previous racing and riding:

ESG: 22.-25th of July, easy ride 27th, 28th 71km commute and We nite hill ride training, 30th Fri Night Kreb Race, 31st Rp2IPBP, 1st EBs-N (kind of fast), 2nd 10k run (all pre race running I did on several month), 3rd 3.5mi run race, (you know how stairs are feeling after such unprepared stupidity), 4th recovery cyclo commute, 5th little hill ride at sun set, 6th Friday night TT (no wonder about the slowness), 7th a decent 2-rider RP2IPBP and this deadly EBsS pace today -- I was kind off part of pushing it... well -- a good nap felt so good.

Must be a good stage race training.

Friday Night Kreb Race - ITT

This Friday: Individual Time Trial. Not that Py was really ready again to go fast, however, a good training session. And a bunch of funny and aero looking riders.

Return to RP2IPBP - a beautiful day for a good ride

After weeks in the 90 deg F range with humidity level high up -- a release since Friday. A beautiful day for a ride. This morning expecting a few more usuals, however, only Marco, Rick and John showed up. Meeting a bigger group at IPBP.

Good decent moving ride today.

Kreb Friday Night Race

This Friday: 1 lap TT (optional) and 18 lap RR (A). Py skipped the TT lap... well, just a few faster warm up laps. Taking his helmet cam once in a while again along. Few pictures (by E.M.):

The GABs were present in a good number today. A number of breaks wet off and got caught up again. Always at least one of the GABs was going with or even started one.

With about 5 laps to go Py was sitting on Robs wheel as a group was drifting off -- Owen in it already. It was just approaching this little incline at good speeds the gap was significant but looked manageable to bridge... here the sequence, starting jumping around and away at km 35.71/0:52:49 -- peaking at 53km/h around km 36.31/0:53:35 for a while until catching up at km 36.78/0:54:13.

From then just a fast ride with the break to the finish -- coming in at 6th place.
