Epilog -- cleaning the Storck after the little messy ToC. Finding some issue with the BB and finaly after a check at CH -- that bike went out of service. Not simply fixable issue with a worn BB shell plus a crack in the frame.
Plan B -- reactivating the good old Prince. Not ideally suitable with 23mm tubulars and little less gearing, but will do.
1st time getting into this one. Non official, just for fun race with some of the faster sort of racers. Starting in a nearly lost dead town.
The late start made a day of race drive up possible, picking up a racer from Kissena in the morning. Pouring rain here and there. A stop for coffee. Arriving with plenty of time at that near ghost town pub location in Neversink, NY. The organizer just about there... wet wet wet.
Hanging out there, slowly getting ready while more and more riders are arriving.
Then staging, if you'd call it like that, on the road in front of the pub in pretty much pouring rain. Rolling out at moderate pace, then moving at a good clip just sitting in. Little work to get over the few rollers and the fist little longer climb, catching back on with few others.
Approaching the one pretty cool major climb what obviously split up thing completely and smaller groups formed.
Here the story in photos:
